Hell Creek
Alligator Skull and Elements In-Situ # 5
Species: "Brachychampsa
montana"
Age: Cretaceous
Location: Montana
Size: 10" x 7 1/2" x 3 1/2" tall
Price: $ 130
Item # rep/alskull5-bsr130cm
Note:
This is a great Alligator skull with some postcranial elements. We decided to
cast the elements and skull In-Situ. the original specimen was found in a block
of mudstone and the pieces were a bit jumbled. The skull was mostly intact,
which is rare. This is a great replica for anyone into the reptiles of the
dinosaur age. There are some teeth still in the dentition. All elements seen are
directly cast from the original specimen, there has been no cosmetic
restoration. All elements painted fossil brown are direct from the original
fossil. This is poured in solid resin so it is very stable.
FYI:
* Near complete skull with teeth in the dentition
* Portion of the right dentary
* Associated elements including several scutes from the body, 3 different
vertebra, and a limb bone. Composition: Solid plastic resin .
Finish: Hand Painted with protective clear-coat

Mosasaur: was a giant, meat-eating marine
reptiles ( it is not a dinosaur) that lived during the late Cretaceous period.
It was up to 33ft (10 m) long. Mosasaurs had four paddle-like limbs on a long,
streamlined body and a long, powerful tail. The large head had huge jaws (up to
4.7 ft =1.45 m long) with many teeth. The jaws could open about 3 feet (1 m).
The lower jaw is loosely hinged to the skull with a moveable joint on each side
(behind the teeth). This loose joint let it swallow huge prey, like some snakes.
They hunted fish, turtles, mollusks, and shellfish. Our Mosasaur fossils have
been found in the Phosphate mines of Khouribga, Morocco, Kansas and Nebraska.

Note:
Pronounced (IK-thee-oh-SAWR-us) Ichthyosaurus was, a dolphin-like reptile up to
75 feet long. It could swim at 25 mph (40 kph). Ichthyosaurs had a tall dorsal
fin, a half-moon-shaped tail, paddle-like flippers and smooth skin. The nostrils
were near the eyes on the top of the head. It had massive ear bones and large
eyes, probably giving it acute hearing and sight. These marine reptiles gave
birth to live young. Their diet was mostly fish, but also included cephalopods
(like belemnites). Hundreds of Ichthyosaurus fossils have been found in England,
Germany, Greenland, and Alberta, Canada. They lived during the early Jurassic to
the early Cretaceous periods. It was not a dinosaur, but another type of extinct
reptile. Ichthyosaurus, which means "fish lizard," was named by Charles Koenig
in 1818.

History of this Plaque
This Crocodile plate is one of the best if not the Best ever
offered to the fossil collector that shows a near complete crocodile that was
fossilized some 150 million years ago in Holzmaden, Germany.
The original or real fossil plate is privately owned.
It is in the Krantz Collection of Bonn Germany.
This Replica appeared in the
Henry A. Ward catalog of fossil replicas of 1866. It was housed in
the Ward collection of fossil replicas in Rochester NY. until 1893 when it
was displayed at the Chicago Exhibition ( similar to a World's fair ) with many
of his other replicas.. At this time the Field Museum of Chicago bought most of
all Henry Ward's collection. This plaque became one of the attractions on
display at the museum. As the museum's collection grew in size this plaque was
then stored away most likely in their basement for almost 100 years. In 2002
we acquired this replica and now after 135 years in storage
this FANTASTIC CROCODILE PLATE is now available again to fossil
collectors, museums and schools etc. Each wall plaque is individually made to
order and is made of polyeurathane resin and the weight is far less then the
original replica.
Just my opinion but this is the type of fossil you dream about
finding and adding to your collection. If you use your imagination you could
just see THIS CROCODILE as still alive in the water some 150 million years ago.

is still in business today selling mineral and fossil kits among other
scientific equipment to many schools within the USA.

History of this Plaque
This Juvenile Plesiosaur plate is one of the best if not the Best ever
offered to the fossil collector that shows a complete animal that was
fossilized some 150 million years ago in Glastonbury, England.
The original or real fossil plate was found by Thomas Hawkins in 1834. The original
fossil still resides at the British Museum in London.
FYI:
Hawkins called this specimen 'Plesiosaurus
triatarsostinus' - a real mouthful!
Richard Owen re-christened it as Plesiosaurus Hawkinsii in 1840. The genus has
been renamed following a proper description by Mike Taylor and Glenn Storrs
(1996)
'Thallasiodracon' - meaning 'sea dragons' - and
"hawkinsii' in honour of its discoverer.
